If you like to have coffee and a smoothie in the morning like I do, why not combine them into one healthy, energizing drink – a BANOFFEE smoothie of course. Coffee provides an energizing boost and can help focus your brain for morning routines or even a morning workout!
In addition to the coffee, banana will provide a source of fiber, potassium, antioxidant vitamin C and energizing B-6. Vitamin C is essential for collagen production – keeps our skin glowing and firm, and it’s also important for immunity.
Reasons Why It’s Ok to LOVE Coffee This Much!
Coffee is something most of us love to indulge in first thing in the morning. This delightful brewed drink comes in many variations and flavors based on the preparation, the beans and the roasting process.
One thing every variety of coffee has in common is its stimulating and energizing effect primarily due to its caffeine content. Caffeine can provide some amazing benefits. It can boost your brainpower, increasing focus and concentration, which makes it an amazing aid for work or even a workout. Its also been shown to have an effect on mood and can help reduce the feeling of pain.
Coffee also contains polyphenols and antioxidants that help prevent free radical damage. Drinking coffee has also been associated with lower blood sugar levels.
Although you probably already enjoy this lovely drink, now you know the benefits you’re getting every time you drink it! Want to know more – go here!
What’s In a Banoffee Smoothie?
This recipe provides an energizing boost; have it in the morning or the afternoon for a pick-me-up or a pre-workout boost. Here’s what you’ll need.
Banana – Use frozen banana to give it a nice ice creamy like texture, while also chilling the smoothie. Not to mention a blast of potassium, fiber and yummy carbs.
Coffee – Make a strong espresso using an espresso machine, set aside and let cool, or place in the fridge to chill. If you don’t have a machine, you can also use 1 teaspoon of instant coffee. Tip – use as good coffee, don’t cheap out! Blend with a bit of hot water to dissolve the granules, and then set aside to cool.
Almond Milk – Use any milk you want, but for this smoothie we will make it dairy-free! Coconut milk, oat milk or cashew milk are also good options.
Cinnamon – You don’t need much of this spicy powder, just a pinch is enough. This sexy spice can aid in digestion and blood sugar control. You can use powder, or grate off a bit of cinnamon bark.
Whey Protein – Protein is an important component of a healthy diet, adding a scoop of high quality protein will help you meet your daily needs, while supporting lean muscle gains.
Coconut Yoghurt – If you like ice creamy shakes, adding a ¼ cup of yoghurt will do the job. It also adds some good bacteria for a healthy gut.
How to Make Banoffee Smoothie:
Even though this smoothie contains a strong espresso, the addition of sweet banana will mellow out the flavor. After prepping the ingredients, throw them into a blender and put on high for 30 seconds or until all ingredients are blended into a smooth and creamy texture. That’s it!
